A choreographic work over an entire day in a public space for a group of 8 artists.
A work that involves every single person.

Assembly is a musical and choreographic play designed for public spaces and performed by a group of 8 a rtists : 4 female dancers, 1 male dancer, 1 musician, 1 set-designer and 1 stage manager. Starting in the morning, the group of artists invests a site in the town, where they question the people passing by. They ask a series of questions. The public replies with a gesture, and together these gestures draw what we collectively wish to leave and to live in this space: question our common good, the ideal spot of our daily life, our urgencies, our dreams, our momentum.

The group of artists progressively create a new space, at the crossroads of a meeting place, a performance space, a spot to exchange and a backdrop of the imaginary.

In doing so, they show the fabrication of the performance in real time, in a shared space. At the end of the day, everybody is invited to get together for approximately 50 minutes of public presentation: the dancers transform the received gestures into a choir dance; the musician composes the soundscape, taking part in the exchanges; and the set designer invents an environment of what could be a unique and fleeting Assembly.

Organisation Assembly unfolds in three phases :
The collection of the gestures with several scenic, musical and choreographic elementsthat are deployed in the public space for around 5 hours.
The public presentation of the performance is the result from this day, the gestures are setinto a dance, and the stories into tales. Around 50 minutes for an audience capacity of 400 to600 persons.
An informal and relaxed discussion with the audience closes the presentation, followed bythe set down and storage of the scenic elements. For an hour or so, the public is welcome tostay on site, exchange and question us, visit the set elements.
